From Fear to Freedom
Anxiety is just one of many human emotions that we all experience. What we want are normal levels of anxiety. We need anxiety to function safely and healthily but we want it to be at a normal healthy level. We want it to be a friend not a foe.
It is not appropriate to feel anxiety continuously. Just like it wouldn’t be appropriate to feel excitement 24/7. Imagine going to work, to the doctors or food shopping feeling continuously excited – it really wouldn’t be appropriate. So it is with anxiety – it is not appropriate to feel high levels of anxiety at all times or even in certain circumstances in our lives. Every emotion we have has its place. Every emotion is appropriate at times. We just don’t want any of them running the show.
It is not healthy to not ever feel anxiety as it is there to help you and to keep you safe but we don’t want it to be at such high levels that it runs or ruins our lives.
